Wellness News
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year! My name is Beth Carpenter. I am the new District Wellness Coordinator.
I am so excited to announce our school district received CDC funding to support the implementation and evaluation of evidenced-based efforts to promote the health and well-being of school-age children and adolescents in underserved and disproportionately affected communities like ours.
This means, as a district, we will be:
-
Creating a District Health Advisory Committee (DHAC)
-
Sharing resources and wellness challenges with all schools
-
Encouraging and supporting staff wellness initiatives
-
Awarding wellness incentives throughout the year
-
Funding healthy schools professional development opportunities
When we focus on the whole child (our students) using the Whole School, Whole Community, Whole Child (WSCC) Model, we bridge the gap between health and education. In doing this, we not only see enhanced academic outcomes for our students, but we also see tangible benefits for staff (i.e., reduced absenteeism, improved mental health, staff retention, etc.).
